Before buying, check that your device can use an eSIM. After buying, follow the steps below to install it.
Does your device support eSIM?
We cannot check this for you — a browser cannot read your device's SIM information. The steps below take about 20 seconds.
- 1
Open Settings → General → About and find “Carrier Lock”. It must say “No SIM restrictions”.
- 2
Open Settings → Cellular (Mobile Data). If you see “Add eSIM” or “Add Data Plan”, your device supports eSIM.
⚠️ A carrier-locked device cannot take another carrier's plan even if it supports eSIM. These are two separate things — check both.
Installation steps
- 1
Connect to Wi-Fi. Installing an eSIM needs internet, so install it before your flight or on airport Wi-Fi.
- 2
Open the QR code we sent you on another screen (a computer, a printout, or a second device).
- 3
On the device that will use the eSIM, open the add-plan menu and scan that QR code.
- 4
Give the plan a label (for example “Travel”) so you can tell it apart from your usual SIM.
- 5
Turn on mobile data for the new eSIM. If you are asked about data roaming, turn it on, then wait for the network to connect.
On iPhone/iPad: Settings → Cellular → Add eSIM → Use QR Code.
Common mistakes
- Each QR code can only be installed once. Do not delete the eSIM before you finish using it — the same code will not work again.
- Installed but no internet: toggle airplane mode off and on once, or check that mobile data is set to use that eSIM.
- These are data-only plans; you cannot make calls or receive texts on your own number unless the plan description says otherwise.
