Danang trip review ✈️ Full summary of Day 1 itinerary
August 30 – September 4, my husband and I took a trip to Danang, just the two of us ✈️ Here's a complete summary of our Day 1 itinerary and review!
Boarded the VietJet flight at 6 AM. Arrived at Da Nang Airport around 8:50 AM Vietnam local time. Went through immigration quickly using the entry fast track! Met the pickup driver I had booked in advance and headed to Han Market.
At the local market, I compared exchange rates at a few money changers before exchanging currency, and bought fruit at a nearby fruit shop to eat later in the rest area at the My Son Sanctuary. I had a morning massage at a spa I'd booked in advance, then had breakfast-cum-lunch at a nearby restaurant. After that, I rented a car for 6 hours to explore My Son Sanctuary. You can certainly explore My Son Sanctuary on your own, but if you want to learn about its historical significance and detailed background, I'd recommend joining a guided tour!
Around 5pm, I checked in at Hoi An Waipipo Resort and checked out the room condition. Riding an electric scooter rented from a motorbike rental shop near An Bang Beach, I headed to Hoi An Zin Cafe, where I took a short break and decided on our dinner menu.
We had dinner at Okken, a popular local restaurant. It's a hit with both locals and tourists, so it was completely full! Because there were so many customers, the staff made quite a few mistakes, which was a bit disappointing. All the dishes we ordered came out tasting different from what we expected, and one of them was so off that we had to ask them to remake it. The food is tasty and the prices are reasonable, but after going a couple of times I'm starting to get a bit tired of it, so I'm not sure whether I'll go back haha.
After the meal, we took a stroll around the old town and browsed bags at shops number 36 and 37. Shop 36 didn't even acknowledge us, so we ended up buying two Longchamp minis at shop 37, where the seller was much more proactive haha. On the way back to our accommodation, we stopped by Winmart and did a bit of small grocery shopping. It was a hectic day, but since we could move around freely without being bound by time, it was a first day full of enjoyment.
