A one-night stay report at "Cam Ranh," Vietnam's hidden gem resort hotel

Hello! I'm Yuki, a Japanese husband living in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, and this is Gock, my Vietnamese wife. This time we visited Cam Ranh, a resort area in south-central Vietnam, so we'd like to share our one-night experience with you! What kind of place is Cam Ranh in Vietnam?

Cam Ranh is a beach resort area located along the south-central coastal region of Vietnam. When Japanese people think of "Vietnam's beaches," Da Nang is probably the first place that comes to mind, but before Da Nang became famous, the "Nha Trang" area in the south-central region was known as a major beach destination. Cam Ranh is a rural area located quite close to that same Nha Trang.There are no tourist attractions in the surrounding area—just a few resort hotels lined up. Essentially, it's a destination you'd visit for a one or two-night stay as a side trip during your Nha Trang vacation, or to enjoy a relaxing hotel experience. We stayed at Alma Resort Cam Ranh.

The Alma Resort Cam Ranh, where we stayed this time, was a 5-star resort hotel. The sea is close by, and there are several outdoor pools within the property, so you can swim wherever you like (though as expected, people were concentrated in the pool closest to the sea). Important note about Cam Ranh hotels: Basically, you'll spend the whole day within the hotel grounds.

A point of caution, or rather something to keep in mind. As I mentioned earlier, the Cam Ranh area is made up of resort hotels, so there are no sightseeing spots to visit other than the hotels themselves. You can go to Nha Trang, but since it takes about 40 minutes by taxi, you'll basically be spending your time fully immersed in hotel life. That said, the hotel does have a mini supermarket, so you can get daily necessities, drinks, and food (snacks and instant items) there. The hotel facilities are fully equipped! A resort life where you can fully enjoy the whole day.

At Cam Ranh's Alma Hotel, you can experience the following. Tennis & Basketball Mini Golf Fitness Club Spa Science Zone Movie Theater Outdoor Pool Kite Flying Sea Bathing Cooking Class Experience (for children) There are surprisingly many options, so even with a 1-2 night stay, you can comfortably spend your entire time at the hotel. What are the restaurants & cafes at Cam Ranh's hotel like?

The hotel where we stayed had one food court and café, plus two restaurants. The restaurants included an upscale establishment where you could enjoy beef steak and similar dishes, as well as an Italian place featuring pizza and spaghetti. It seemed we'd basically end up using the food court for most of our other meals. The food court offered Vietnamese cuisine and burger-type options.   We joined a buffet held at an Italian restaurant during dinner time, but this turned out to be a bit of a letdown. The price was around 2,500 yen per person, which is quite expensive for Vietnam, and yet the all-you-can-eat menu only offered pizza and spaghetti, so a few slices of pizza and one plate of spaghetti already left us full. It felt like a bit of a waste. Cam Ranh is a great place to stop for one night when traveling to Nha Trang!

Cam Ranh, where we stayed this time, is a hotel with quite high satisfaction on its own. That said, if you're traveling abroad from Japan, it really would be a waste to spend your entire itinerary just enjoying hotel life, wouldn't it? As a recommended schedule: Day 1: Japan → stay in Cam Ranh Day 2: Cam Ranh Day 3: Cam Ranh → stay in Nha Trang Days 4-5: Stay in Nha Trang Day 6: Nha Trang → Ho Chi Minh City → Japan We recommend putting together a 6-7 day itinerary along these lines. It's also fine to visit Nha Trang first instead of Cam Ranh, and end up in Cam Ranh on the last day ♪
