A one-night stay experience report at Cam Ranh, Vietnam's hidden gem resort

Cam Ranh is a beach resort area located along the south-central coast of Vietnam. When Japanese people think of "Vietnam's beaches," the first place that comes to mind is probably Da Nang, but before Da Nang became famous, the "Nha Trang" area in the south-central region was known as a major beach destination. Cam Ranh is a rural area located quite close to that Nha Trang. There are no tourist spots in the area — just a row of resort hotels — so this is basically a place you stop by to enjoy hotel life for a night or two while you're on a trip to Nha Trang. Where we stayed was "Alma Resort Cam Ranh.

The hotel we stayed at this time, "Alma Resort Cam Ranh," was a 5-star resort hotel. It's close to the sea, and there are several outdoor pools on the property, so you're free to swim wherever you like (though, as expected, people tended to gather at the pool closest to the sea). A note about hotels in Cam Ranh: basically, you spend the whole day within the hotel grounds.

Just a quick note or point to keep in mind. As I mentioned earlier, since the Cam Ranh area is made up of resort hotels, there aren't really any sightseeing spots you can stop by other than the hotels themselves. You can go to Nha Trang, but it takes about 40 minutes by taxi, so basically you'll be spending your time centered around hotel life. That said, the hotel does have a mini supermarket, so you can pick up daily necessities, drinks, and food (snacks and instant items). The hotel facilities are fantastic! You can fully enjoy a resort lifestyle for a whole day.

At the Almaz Hotel in Cam Ranh, you can enjoy the following experiences. Tennis & Basketball Putting Golf Fitness Club Spa Science Zone Cinema Outdoor Pool Kite Flying Sea Bathing Cooking Class Experience (for kids) There are actually quite a lot of options, so for a 1-2 night stay, you can easily spend the whole time right at the hotel. What are the restaurants & cafes like at the hotel in Cam Ranh?

The hotel we stayed at had one food court & café and two restaurants. Of the restaurants, one had an upscale vibe where you could enjoy dishes like beef steak, and the other was Italian, serving pizza and spaghetti. Other than that, it seemed like we'd basically be relying on the food court. The food court had Vietnamese food and burger-type items.   We joined a buffet held at an Italian restaurant during dinner time, but this turned out to be a bit of a letdown. The price was around 2,500 yen per person, which is quite expensive for Vietnam, and considering it's an all-you-can-eat of pizza and spaghetti, the pizza ran out and just one plate of spaghetti already filled us up. It felt a bit wasteful. I'd recommend stopping by Cam Ranh for one night during a trip to Nha Trang!

The Cam Ranh hotel we stayed at this time was quite satisfying in terms of the hotel itself. However, if you're traveling abroad from Japan, it really would be a waste to spend your whole trip just enjoying hotel life, wouldn't it? As for a recommended schedule, Day 1: Japan → Stay in Cam Ranh Day 2: Cam Ranh Day 3: Cam Ranh → Stay in Nha Trang Days 4–5: Stay in Nha Trang Day 6: Nha Trang → Ho Chi Minh City → Japan I'd recommend putting together a 6–7 day itinerary like this. It's also fine to go to Nha Trang first instead of Cam Ranh, and finish up in Cam Ranh on the last day ♪
