[Da Nang Trip Diary] Day 1 Morning: Staying at The Blossom Resort Da Nang

Xin chào! We are Yuki, a Japanese husband living in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, and Ngoc, his Vietnamese wife. On this blog, we alternately share information about living and moving to Vietnam, as well as travel information from all over the country. This time, we'd like to introduce our recent trip to Da Nang! It was a 5-day trip, but we managed to enjoy it to the fullest. We'll also share lots of information about recommended spas, souvenirs, and restaurants! *Please note Since we're departing from Ho Chi Minh City, travel time won't be an issue. Many people traveling from Japan to Da Nang end up spending more than half a day just on transit, so for this 5-day itinerary, Japanese travelers should add one extra day for the outbound trip and one for the return, planning for a total of 6 to 7 days. And so begins our 5-day Da Nang travel diary! Day 1 Morning: Traveling from Ho Chi Minh City to Da Nang

The start of our journey is the sky's gateway: "Ho Chi Minh City Tan Son Nhat Airport." When Japanese travelers visit Ho Chi Minh City, they also use the adjacent international terminal. *It seems that in a few years, most of the international airport functions will move to the neighboring Dong Nai Province. The Vietnamese airport we used this time recently had a dedicated terminal added. Thanks to that, the airport was clean and not too crowded, which was great!

Regarding mobile batteries, which have recently become a subject of concern, on Vietnam Airlines domestic flights you can bring them onboard by placing them in a bag like this one, handed to you at the check-in counter. From Ho Chi Minh City to Da Nang, it's just a 1-hour flight ♪ This trip was my youngest daughter's first-ever trip, at 10 months old. At airport check-in, they even kindly gave us priority handling at the business counter ♪ I'm so grateful m(__)m The hotel we stayed at on the first day of our Da Nang trip is this one, "The Blossom Resort Da Nang". When I checked other travel sites, it seems this is a Japanese-owned hotel run by Japanese expats. Sure enough, there was a Japanese-language menu, and I was a little surprised to find natto at the breakfast buffet. Swimming in the outdoor pool at The Blossom Resort Da Nang

The outdoor pool right in front of the reception has a river view and looked really nice. My kids and husband swam there for about an hour while our room was being prepared (though there was one silly mishap—my husband dove into the pool with his smartphone still in his swim trunks pocket).

The Blossom Resort Da Nang isn't very large, and its facilities are limited to a restaurant, a spa, a fitness gym (fairly small), and an outdoor pool. Also, there aren't any shops within walking distance, so for us, who wanted to explore the city right from the first day, it was a bit disappointing. If you're considering this hotel, please keep that in mind.

The room was cleaner than I expected. It was also spacious enough, had a balcony, and I could see natural scenery. Since I don't usually get to experience this kind of resort-like moment living in Ho Chi Minh City, just lying on the bed was already enough to make me happy ♪ The breakfast buffet at The Blossom Resort Da Nang

The breakfast at The Blossom Resort Da Nang mainly features Japanese, Korean, and Vietnamese cuisine. There's also a good variety of dried fruits and oatmeal-type dishes, plus miso soup and natto. At first I wondered whether this was really a Japanese-affiliated hotel, but looking at the guests in the breakfast hall, Japanese people were overwhelmingly the majority (they seemed like business travelers).      Summary and next preview: Who The Blossom Resort Da Nang is recommended for. The Blossom Resort Da Nang, where we stayed on the first day, indeed had that "cleanliness in the details" typical of Japanese-affiliated places, as one might expect. The rate was, if I remember correctly, about 14,000 yen (per room). That said, although it's in the city center, you'll need a taxi to head out into town, and since the hotel doesn't have a mini-mart or convenience store inside, some people might find the evenings a bit inconvenient. Still, I was able to fully enjoy that resort feeling, so it might be well-suited for travelers accompanying elderly companions, or for a second trip to Da Nang.   Next time we'll introduce Da Nang Day 1 afternoon: a city sightseeing tour and a look at the souvenir shops ♪ Next time we'll introduce Da Nang Day 1 afternoon.
