Since July and August include the Obon holidays, many of you may already be thinking about where to go. Vietnam is a tropical country, but the climate varies by region, so please keep that in mind! Perhaps around 90% of Japanese travelers choose Hanoi in the north, Da Nang in the central region, or Ho Chi Minh City in the south, but actually these three regions each have different climates. It's not as clear-cut a difference as Hokkaido and Okinawa in Japan, but even so, if you get the timing wrong, it can be enough to affect how satisfying your sightseeing turns out to be. Weather in Hanoi in June, July, and August During this period, Hanoi is right in the middle of the rainy season.It's also quite hot and humid, so people often say, "My glasses fog up just from walking outside." Indeed, the muggy days do tend to continue, so it might not really feel like the typical weather of a southern tropical climate. Still, there are plenty of times when the rain stops, and it doesn't rain every single day.During sunny weather, you can also join the UNESCO World Heritage Ha Long Bay tour, and unlike the dry season, there's no fog, so the scenery might actually be even more spectacular during this period. Da Nang weather in June, July, and August Da Nang during this time is actually in its "dry season.Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, and Malaysia—popular Southeast Asian destinations—are all in their rainy season together, but Da Nang stays in its dry season until late August thanks to the influence of the westerlies. Sightseeing in Da Nang mostly involves outdoor activities like swimming in the sea, visiting scenic spots, the My Son Sanctuary ruins, and strolling around Hoi An, so if you go during this period, you should be able to enjoy sightseeing with high satisfaction and no worries about rain! The weather in Ho Chi Minh City in June, July, and August Personally, the destinations I'd recommend for this season are Da Nang or Ho Chi Minh City. Ho Chi Minh City is in the rainy season just like Hanoi, but since the south has a tropical climate, the rain doesn't really bother you much. Even when it rains, it stops within a few dozen minutes, and after the rain the temperature drops, which actually makes it easier to go sightseeing.   This might not be widely known, but actually only the southern and south-central regions of Vietnam belong to the tropical climate that most people imagine. In terms of tourist destinations, these include Ho Chi Minh City, Nha Trang, and Phu Quoc Island. If you're going to Vietnam in June, July, or August, personally I think Da Nang & Hoi An would be the best choice. That's because Da Nang has a rainy season from around September to February, and on top of that, October to December is typhoon season, so realistically August is the last good month for sightseeing this year (though you could argue September still works to some extent). Unlike Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City, in Da Nang rain cuts the enjoyment by more than half.That's why, if you're going to Da Nang, the dry season is the best time to go! 2nd place: Ho Chi Minh City - If it rains, there are ways to enjoy the rain!

2位はホーチミン。ダナン以外の観光地は雨季となりますが、その中でもホーチミンであれば、雨の日でもベトナムらしい現地の過ごし方を考えることができます。   現在のホーチミンは、おしゃれカフェや高級スパ、屋内型のナイトスポットなどがコロナ前と比べて格段に増えています。雨季は雨に降られることが既に予想されているので、日本にいるうちから雨の日計画も立てやすいのもポイントです。 3位 フーコック島：できれば2都市観光がおすすめ

Coming in 3rd place is Phu Quoc Island. For some reason, Phu Quoc has been featured by tons of YouTubers and Instagrammers over the past few years, hasn't it? Phu Quoc has the same climate as Ho Chi Minh City, so June to August is the rainy season, but even so, the climate stays mild throughout the year, and since temperatures themselves stay high all day long, you can still enjoy swimming in the sea even after the rain clears up.   That said, personally, I don't think Phu Quoc Island has quite become the kind of destination that YouTubers universally recommend just yet, and if you stay more than 3 days, you may start feeling bored with "nothing to do." For that reason, if you're aiming to visit Phu Quoc Island, I'd recommend planning a two-city trip: 2 days in Phu Quoc Island and 2 days in Ho Chi Minh City.   Phu Quoc Island has no direct flights from Japan, so you'll need to transfer to a domestic flight via Ho Chi Minh City, which actually makes it easy to plan a two-city trip too. In summary: with the yen so weak right now, Vietnam is hot! We're currently in a period of historically weak yen, and on top of that, fuel prices are rising due to tensions between the US and Iran. Prices are going up across the board, and even Bangkok, Thailand, which has long been an unshakable favorite, is starting to show signs of losing its shine.Some say, "Bangkok isn't a cheap country anymore" and "nowadays Thai people are the ones visiting Japan." Even so, Vietnam is still a country where you can really feel how affordable prices are. Of course, it depends on how you spend your time there, but if you're someone "looking for a country where you can enjoy luxury on a budget," why not consider Vietnam for your next overseas trip?
