[Nha Trang Travel Diary] Day 2: Relentlessly touring Nha Trang's sightseeing spots!

If you come across an article that interests you, please follow us first! ♪ Today is day 2 of our Nha Trang trip, and we're planning to thoroughly explore the sightseeing spots around Nha Trang city. Nha Trang isn't a very major destination for Japanese travelers, so we're curious to find out what kind of leisure time you can spend there. If you're interested, please take a look! Dam Market — The first spot you should visit when sightseeing in Nha Trang city

The first place we visited was Dam Market. It is the largest market in Nha Trang, located right in the city center. It's an indoor market, but there are also rows of shops lined up all around the outside.

You know, all Vietnamese people ride their motorbikes while shopping, don't they. It's amazing how drive-through culture has been rooted here since long ago…( ｀ー´)ノ If you're heading to the market, I recommend going first thing in the morning while it's not yet hot. Indoor areas especially get quite hot and humid once the sun rises. Po Nagar Cham Towers│Let's visit the ruins of the Champa Kingdom

The next place I visited was "Po Nagar Cham Towers." It's just past a left turn after going straight north along Tran Phu Street on Nha Trang Beach. I got there quickly. Po Nagar is a relic of the Champa Kingdom, an independent state that once flourished in central and south-central Vietnam. It's not that large in scale, but it's certainly worth seeing.

By the way, it seems the timing was good when I visited, as you can see, I was able to watch a traditional dance performance. Incidentally, the Cham ethnic minority are said to be descendants of the Champa Kingdom (though I'm not sure if they were actually Cham people, haha). Lunch: Nha Trang's famous Banh Can

After finishing my visit to Po Nagar Cham Towers, I went to a Banh Can restaurant right in front of it. I really wanted to go to a proper, well-air-conditioned restaurant, but unfortunately there didn't seem to be one nearby.

こちらがバインカン/Banh Can。ガイドブックを見ると、ベトナム版たこ焼きみたいに紹介されていますが、味も見た目もまったく違いますよね。生地は米粉を使っていて、添えられている具材はひき肉やエビ、タコが定番。薄めたヌクマムに浸して食べます。   1皿10個くらいありましたが、女子でもぺろりと食べられちゃいますよ～！ あと、近くに生牡蠣を出すお店があったので、そこでも食べたのですが、夫がお腹を壊してしまったので、紹介は控えておきます( ;∀;)    ホンチョン岬│何とも言えないリゾート感がたまらない

After lunch, we visited "Honcheon Cape." You go up a small hill to enter, then descend down to the rocky area. It's better to carry small children. The path isn't well maintained, and some rocks can be slippery, so please be careful.

This is the famous landmark of Hongchon Point. It's a rock wedged between two other rocks. Standing directly beneath this rock for a commemorative photo is the classic thing to do here. In person it's much bigger than it looks in photos, and it gives off a silent sense of pressure. Take a break at Hongchon Café

ホンチョン岬の傍には、ホンチョンカフェという丘の上に建つ飲食エリアがあります。海の眺めは最高ですし、カバナ席も雰囲気は申し分ありません。カクテルやフレッシュジュースなどを飲んでしばし休憩。   ちなみに、時刻は16時前。実はポーナガル塔見学を終えたあとは、次回ご紹介する泥温泉を楽しんできました。 なかなか面白い体験ができたので、次回もぜひお見逃しなく♪      夕食：ニャチャン旅行に来てまさかのドイツ料理

I may have mentioned this in an article before, but one thing I really want you to enjoy when you come to Nha Trang is the "multinational cuisine" scene. Westerners who fell in love with Nha Trang and ended up settling here have opened restaurants serving the food of their home countries. This time, I visited a German restaurant. When I think of German food, sausages are pretty much the only thing that comes to mind, but when I looked at the menu, I was amazed! It really was almost all sausages... (lol)

Sausage and mashed potatoes. The restaurant was dimly lit with indirect lighting, so I couldn't get a great photo, but it tasted even better than it looked! The other customers around us often ordered chicken dishes along with the sausage, so that might be worth recommending too (though I can't say for sure). We'll wrap up the second day in Nha Trang with a visit to the night market.

For the second and final stop in Nha Trang, I'd like to wrap things up at the night market. The night market is located right across the street from Nha Trang Beach, and takes place along a straight road about 300 meters long. Over 100 night stalls line the street, and there's also a dining area. Nha Trang doesn't have too many souvenir shops, so this might be a good place to pick up some miscellaneous goods. Summary and preview of the next installment   Nha Trang's city sightseeing spots are compactly clustered together, so if you have one day, you can visit them all with plenty of time to spare. If your stay is short, I think even half a day would be fine. If it's Dam Market → Po Nagar Cham Towers → Hon Chong Promontory like we visited this time, you can cover them all in the morning!
