When I returned in 2016, Bana Hills was just starting to draw attention, but the now-famous Golden Bridge (the "Hands") didn't exist yet. Today, the Golden Bridge has become Da Nang's most iconic photo backdrop! This article isn't simply a list of "must-visit spots. Instead, drawing on the actual, on-the-ground impressions gathered from multiple visits, I've put together a Da Nang self-guided travel guide that better matches the needs of today's travelers. Da Nang City Attractions (half a day to 1 day is enough) Da Nang's city center isn't large. If you're up for some walking, most attractions can be covered on foot or with the help of Grab, so it's not recommended to spend more than one day here. 1️⃣ Da Nang Cathedral (Pink Church) A building left over from the French colonial period, famous for its pink exterior and rooster-shaped weathervane. The interior is only open during Mass hours, so most travelers mainly take photos of the exterior — it's a spot best suited for a brief stop.

2️⃣ Cao Dai Temple An important stronghold of Cao Dai, a native Vietnamese religion, its architecture blends Chinese and Western elements. The "Divine Eye" inside the temple symbolizes the core belief of Cao Dai. If you're interested in religious culture, you can plan a brief stop here; if your schedule is tight, feel free to skip it.

3️⃣ Champa Sculpture Museum An important stop for understanding the historical background of China and Vietnam relations, the museum houses a large collection of stone sculptures from the Champa dynasty. Those interested in history will find it very worthwhile, but if you're just on a relaxed trip, you could consider it optional.

4️⃣ Dragon Bridge & Golden Dragon Night Market Dragon Bridge is a landmark of Da Nang city. On weekend evenings (Fri, Sat, Sun) at 21:00, there's a fire-breathing and water-spraying show. During the performance, the bridge deck is closed off, and large crowds of tourists gather along the riverside. The night view of Dragon Bridge is really beautiful, and nearby there's also the Golden Dragon Night Market and a riverside walking area, making it perfect for a relaxed "evening stroll itinerary" without needing to rush from spot to spot.

II. Beaches and Natural Attractions (Relaxation-Oriented) 1️⃣ Linh Ung Pagoda (Son Tra Peninsula) About a 20–30 minute drive from downtown; you can rent a motorbike or take a Grab there. The 67-meter-tall White Lady Buddha statue is quite spectacular, and from up high you can also overlook the entire Da Nang coastline. When I visited again in 2024, the number of monkeys had noticeably increased, so keep an eye on your belongings while taking photos.

III. Suburban Attraction Recommendations (Real 2025 Experience) ✔ Marble Mountains (Ngu Hanh Son) Marble Mountains is located between Da Nang and Hoi An, made up of five limestone hills. It combines caves, Buddhist temples, and viewing platforms, making it a destination that blends religion, culture, and natural scenery. ⚠ Ba Na Hills | 2025 Updated Perspective Ba Na Hills is one of Da Nang's most famous attractions, about a 50-minute drive from the city center. It boasts Vietnam's longest cable car line, and with the frequent mist, it feels like a fairyland. The Golden Bridge (held by giant stone hands) is the iconic highlight of Ba Na Hills. Recommended conclusion: Independent travel is better; joining a group tour is not really recommended. Reasons: Group tour time is highly restricted, and photo/free time is often squeezed. With independent travel, you can decide your own cable car timing and avoid the crowds. The cable car + park route is actually not complicated. Transportation options: Renting a scooter: Suitable for those who love independent travel, but you need to watch out for road conditions and weather. Taxi/Grab: More expensive, suitable for groups of 3-4 people traveling together. Tour groups: Includes tickets and a guide, great value for money, but the schedule is more restricted. KLOOK now offers a shuttle bus service divided into two time slots, 08:30~16:30 and 10:00~18:00, which is a great choice that combines independent travel with affordability. Price comparison: Local travel agency: NT$1,290,000 (about NT$1,518), including a tour guide, private car, admission tickets, and buffet, but there is a shopping itinerary. △ Extended Option | Hoi An Ancient Town As a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Hoi An Ancient Town is about 40-60 minutes by car from downtown Da Nang. The streets of the old town, adorned with lanterns, have a very romantic atmosphere, and it's especially enchanting at night. If time is limited, we recommend scheduling only the evening to nighttime period. Transportation options: Renting a motorbike: Suitable for those who enjoy independent travel, but be mindful of road conditions and weather. Taxi/Grab: More expensive, but suitable for groups of 3-4 traveling together.

However, it is quite far away and the ruins are somewhat scattered, so the overall experience leans more toward a historical focus. Suitable for travelers interested in ancient civilizations; if your itinerary is limited, you may consider it as an optional backup.
