Flowers are so cheap in Vietnam, aren't they? The warm climate means they grow fast — which also means they wilt fast — but flowers, which add a splash of color to everyday life, can be bought easily at the market. Because they're this cheap, even a beginner like me can buy them by the armful without fear of messing up. While I keep thinking, "I wish I'd learned from my mother, who had a floristry license~," I'm still enjoying it in my own way. 10 roses = 25,000 VND ≈ 150 yen That's about 15 yen per stem!! Even a single rose is this cheap. No wonder you so often see one popped into a little vase and set out on a café table. And today, I needed to get some floral foam to hold flowers in a vase, to decorate the office my husband did the construction for.
