[Da Lat Trip Diary 2026] Day 2: Enjoying Strawberry Picking & Night BBQ

Day 2 of my Da Lat trip: Let's go strawberry picking in the morning!

Morning of the second day of my Da Lat trip. For now, I strolled around Da Lat Market, which is right in the center of town. There aren't many people around. The few people walking about are mostly Vietnamese, and I barely see any foreigners. I wonder if it's just not that popular?

Here's breakfast. It's a specialty of Da Lat called "Bánh Ướt Lòng Gà," a rice-flour noodle dish. The flat noodles have more chew than pho, and there's less broth. It seems to be characterized by egg yolk and offal-type ingredients like gizzards. Surprisingly, it tasted really good, and since it's a dish you don't often see outside of Da Lat, I ended up eating it twice during my stay (lol).   By the way, there is a specialty eatery near the Da Lat market for this dish, so please give it a try there. I didn't see it at any restaurants in Da Lat city either, so it seems to be positioned more as an everyday, local-style dish. After the meal, we headed to a strawberry farm by taxi.

After finishing our meal, we headed to a farm we found on Google Maps where you can go strawberry picking. We took a taxi partway there, but then came an unexpected snag: "From here on, you'll have to walk." It's just a single path, but pushing a stroller along it was a bit tough (-_-;) And so began Da Lat's famous strawberry picking! First, an explanation of the rules.

We've arrived~. In recent years, strawberry picking has become a bit of a boom in Da Lat, and just by searching on Google Maps you can find close to ten farms. The rules are the same no matter which farm you go to. ① Admission is free ② No time limit ③ After picking strawberries into your basket, they are weighed and you pay only for the weight you picked These are the rules. Since this is different from strawberry picking in Japan, please note that "you are not allowed to eat the strawberries while picking them.

ダラットでいちごが栽培されるようになったのは、韓国と日本の品種と栽培技術が伝播したここ数年の出来事です。とはいえ、日本のいちごと比べると、まだまだ粒は不揃いで色形糖度も不十分。なので日本人が訪れる場合は「雰囲気を楽しむ場所」と覚えておいてくださいな♪   私の娘はダラットに来たら、毎回いちごを摘みたがります。ただ、意外と値段はするのよね…。2パックぎゅうぎゅうに詰めるくらいの重量で2000円以上しました( ;∀;)      昼食：ダラットに来たらピザがおすすめ？？

Burrata Woodfired Pizza" is a restaurant that will fully satisfy even Japanese people with discerning palates! It's an Italian spot serving pizza and spaghetti. If you're thinking, "Why go Italian when you're in Da Lat?"... that's a totally normal reaction m(__)m But the pizza here was truly delicious, so please let me introduce it to you!

For the salad, I ordered the one with that gooey, melty cheese you often see at Italian restaurants like this. I think it was around 700 yen. Something I always think about this dish though—it doesn't really have much flavor, does it? 💦 Next up was the pizza I'd been looking forward to. There was a pizza oven right nearby, and a craftsman was carefully and patiently baking each pizza one by one right there.

Above all, it's so stylish, isn't it. It's actually located on quite a steep cliff. To get here, you'll definitely need a taxi or Grab. I'll leave the information below. Back to the hotel for a short rest until evening

I got a bit tired, so I'm heading back to the hotel for a rest. Tonight I'm staying at a 5-star hotel called "Golden Sun Hotel," located right in the city center. Since Da Lat is at a high altitude and stays cool, the outdoor pool is too cold to actually get into.

As you can see, this hotel has an indoor pool! It's not quite heated water, but it's a temperature you can get into without bracing yourself. What's more, right next to it there's a hinoki cypress sauna, and you can use it for free. They really think of everything, don't they~♪

By the way, the breakfast buffet was excellent. It featured Dalat specialties like jam, pâté, cheese, roast beef, and more, giving the impression that it stood a cut above the other high-end hotels in Dalat. Enjoying a nighttime BBQ at "Somreo," a spot that has become a famous attraction in Dalat in recent years.

In the evening we took a taxi again and headed a little out to the suburbs. In the area called Somreo, there are rows of restaurants where you can enjoy BBQ at night. Our recommendation is to time your arrival for sunset.

Here's how it looks at night. This place has a really nice atmosphere too. When it comes to Vietnam's popular tourist spots, places like Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Da Nang, Nha Trang, and Phu Quoc Island come to mind, but since they're all city or beach towns, you won't get to see scenery like this there.

The barbecue is the type grilled on a shichirin (small charcoal grill). Well, the taste and quality of the meat are pretty ordinary, but if you think of it as the price for the location, I have absolutely no complaints. Summary: Day 2 in Da Lat has come to an end. On the final Day 3, I'll bring you hotel life & a stroll through the city! Day 2 in Da Lat is over in the blink of an eye. Since this is a short trip, tomorrow's Day 3 will be the last day of sightseeing. Tomorrow I'll be moving to a wonderful hotel deep in the mountains. And at the end, I'll also enjoy a walk around the city area. Please stay with me until the very end!
