[Da Lat Travel Record 2026] Day 2: Enjoying Strawberry Picking & Night BBQ

Da Lat Travel Diary, Day 2: Let's go strawberry picking in the morning!

Morning of day 2 of the trip to Da Lat. For now, I took a walk around Da Lat Market in the center of town. There aren't many people around. The occasional passersby are Vietnamese, and I barely see any foreigners. I wonder if it's just not popular?

Here's breakfast. It's a specialty of Da Lat called "Bánh Ướt Lòng Gà," a rice-flour noodle dish. The noodles are flat and have more chew than pho, with less broth. It seems to be characterized by egg yolk and offal-type ingredients like gizzards. Surprisingly, it tasted really good, and since it's a dish you rarely see outside of Da Lat, I ended up eating it twice during my stay (haha).   By the way, there are specialty eateries around the Da Lat Market, so please head there for this dish. I didn't see it at any restaurants in Da Lat city either, so it seems to be positioned more as a popular, everyday kind of food. After the meal, we took a taxi to the strawberry farm.

After finishing our meal, we headed to a farm we found on Google Maps where you can go strawberry picking. We took a taxi partway there, but then came an unexpected surprise: "From here on, you'll need to walk." It's a single path, but pushing a stroller along it was a bit tough (-_-;) The famous Da Lat strawberry picking begins! Time for the rules to be explained.

We have arrived~. In recent years, strawberry picking has become quite a trend in Da Lat, and just by searching on Google Maps, you can find nearly ten different farms. The rules are the same at every farm. ① Admission is free ② There is no time limit ③ After picking berries into a basket, you weigh them and pay only for the weight you picked The rules are different from strawberry picking in Japan, so please note that "you cannot eat the strawberries while you pick them"!

Growing strawberries in Da Lat is actually a fairly recent development, made possible over just the past few years by the introduction of Korean and Japanese varieties and cultivation techniques. That said, compared to Japanese strawberries, the berries here are still quite uneven in size, and their color, shape, and sugar content still leave something to be desired. So if you're Japanese and visiting, just keep in mind that this is more "a place to enjoy the atmosphere" than a place for top-quality strawberries ♪ Whenever my daughter comes to Da Lat, she always wants to go strawberry picking. That said, it's surprisingly pricey... Enough to stuff two containers full ended up costing over 2,000 yen ( ;∀;) Lunch: Is pizza the recommended choice when you come to Da Lat??

Even Japanese people with refined palates will be completely satisfied when they come here! The restaurant is "Burrata Woodfired Pizza," an Italian place serving pizza and spaghetti. If you're thinking "Why Italian food in Dalat?"... that's a completely normal reaction, haha m(__)m But the pizza here was truly delicious, so please let me introduce it to you!

For the salad, I ordered the one with that gooey melted cheese you often see at Italian places. I think it was around 700 yen. But you know, I always feel like this dish doesn't have much flavor 💦

Above all, it's so stylish, isn't it? It's actually located right on a cliff edge. Getting here really requires a taxi or Grab. I'll leave the information below. Back to the hotel for a quick rest until evening

I got a bit tired, so I went back to the hotel for a rest. The hotel I'm staying at tonight is a five-star hotel called "Golden Sun Hotel." It's located in the city center. Since Dalat is at a high altitude and quite cool, the outdoor pool is unfortunately too cold to enjoy a swim.

As you can see, this hotel has an indoor pool. It's not quite heated water, but the temperature is comfortable enough that you won't need to brace yourself before getting in. On top of that, there's a hinoki cypress sauna right next to it, and it's free to use. Talk about a place that thinks of everything~ ♪

By the way, the breakfast buffet is truly excellent. It features Dalat specialties like jams, pâté, cheese, roast beef, and more, and it feels a cut above other luxury hotels in Dalat. Enjoying a nighttime BBQ at "Somaleo," a spot that's become famous in Dalat in recent years

Take a taxi again in the evening and head a little out to the suburbs. In the area called Somleo, you'll find rows of restaurants where you can enjoy BBQ at night. Our recommendation is to time your arrival for sunset.

This is what it looks like at night. This place also has a really nice atmosphere. When you think of popular tourist destinations in Vietnam, places like Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Da Nang, Nha Trang, and Phu Quoc Island come to mind, but since they're all urban and seaside towns, you won't find scenery like this there.

The barbecue is the type grilled on a shichirin (small charcoal grill). Well, the taste and quality of the meat are pretty ordinary, but if you think of it as the price for the venue, I have no complaints at all. Summary: Day 2 in Dalat has come to an end. The last day, Day 3, will bring you hotel life & a stroll around the city. Day 2 in Dalat is over in the blink of an eye. Since this is a short trip, tomorrow's Day 3 will be the last day of sightseeing. Tomorrow I'll move to a lovely hotel deep in the mountains. And at the end, I'll also enjoy strolling around the city center. Please be sure to watch until the end!
