This time, the focus of the trip was on: Classic attractions in central London (the British Museum, Westminster Abbey, the Tower of London) UNESCO World Heritage & Suburban Day Trip (Cambridge, Stonehenge, Windsor Castle, Bath) Musical Experience (The Phantom of the Opera, Les Misérables) London is a city I highly recommend for anyone traveling independently in Europe for the first time — the language is friendly, transportation is simple, and information is abundant, making it the perfect gateway to Europe! 🧳 Pre-Trip Preparations (Essential Tips for Independent Travel in the UK) Visa: Taiwanese citizens can enter visa-free (passport must be valid for more than 6 months), but immigration may check your return flight ticket and proof of accommodation. Plugs: The UK uses three-pin sockets, so it's recommended to bring an adapter plus an extension cord. Internet: You can use an eSIM or rent a pocket Wi-Fi device — the signal is stable either way. Transit card: We recommend tapping directly with a credit card or Apple Pay (equivalent to an Oyster card). Cash: Card payment is accepted almost everywhere; for day tours, it's suggested to tip the driver £1–2. Weather: Please bring rain gear, as overcast and rainy weather is common in the UK. 🚇 London Transit Card Recommendations City transit: Simply tap your contactless credit card or Apple Pay to enter and exit the subway stations — no need to buy an Oyster Card — and you'll enjoy a daily spending cap. Airport transfers: For Heathrow Airport, we recommend taking the Heathrow Express or the Piccadilly Line on the Underground, depending on your budget and time constraints. 🗓️ 8-Day 7-Night Itinerary and Selected Highlights Day 1|Fly from Iceland to London → Check in at Kew Gardens This leg connects from the Iceland portion of the trip; we stayed at a Premier Inn near Kew, which offered affordable rates and convenient transport links. Day 2|Kew Gardens + The British Museum An 8-Day 7-Night Trip to London, England: Exploring Kew Gardens and a Guide to the British Museum Kew Gardens: A spacious and tranquil royal botanical garden, where the greenhouses and spring cherry blossoms are absolutely stunning — perfect for travelers who love nature. The British Museum: An incredibly rich collection, and admission is free! I recommend downloading the guide app before you go.

Day 3 | A One-Day Ticket to Conquer London's Classic Attractions An 8-Day 7-Night UK London Trip: Must-Visit City Day Tour Spots and Itinerary Planning Tower of London, Westminster Abbey, Thames River Cruise, Greenwich Observatory — great value with multiple attractions on a single ticket How we used our quota: sightseeing bus, St. Paul's Cathedral, Tower Bridge, Tower of London, Westminster Abbey plus a Thames River Cruise

Day 4 | Half-day Cambridge tour + The Phantom of the Opera musical 8 days and 7 nights in London, UK: A day trip to Cambridge and sharing our experience of The Phantom of the Opera Taking the train to Cambridge to visit Trinity College and punt on the River Cam, experiencing a strong English academic atmosphere In the evening, we watched The Phantom of the Opera—we chose budget-friendly seats, but the experience was still fantastic, and the acoustics were stunning

Day 5 | Windsor Castle, Stonehenge, and Bath Day Trip A journal of an 8-day 7-night trip to London, England: Experiencing Stonehenge, Windsor Castle, and a Bath day tour The one-day tour of three places was packed, but the sights were all classics. Stonehenge in person was smaller than I imagined, but the atmosphere was mysterious; the old town of Bath has the ancient Roman baths and exquisite little shops.

Day 6|Blenheim Palace + Cotswolds Itinerary An 8-Day 7-Night Journey Through London, England: Exploring Downton Abbey and Blenheim Palace Blenheim Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is truly magnificent. Bourton-on-the-Water is known as England's most beautiful village, with a wonderfully relaxing riverside scenery. The manor village of Bampton is the filming location for the TV series "Downton Abbey.

Day 7 | Cherry Blossoms at Regent's Park + Revisiting the British Museum + The Musical "Les Misérables" A travelogue of 8 days and 7 nights in London, England: The British Museum, The National Gallery, and the "Les Misérables" experience The cherry blossoms at Regent's Park are in full bloom right now, offering top-notch beauty and photo-taking atmosphere Went back to the British Museum to catch the exhibition areas we missed The overall storyline and emotional performance of "Les Misérables" were deeply moving, well worth being the grand finale of the trip

Day 8|Morning check-out and flight back to Taiwan Flight departs at 09:25, recommend arriving at the airport 3 hours early 🏨 London accommodation notes Premier Inn (near Kew Gardens) Inexpensive (about NT$2000/night) Not far from the subway station, quiet and safe The downside is it's a bit far from the city center, suitable for the first night or as a transit stopover Studios 2 Let Hotel (near King's Cross Station) In terms of location, the price is cheap (6 nights NT$13,245/person). The downside is that the space is very cramped, and there's only a double-bed room type available. 🎭 Musical Recommendations: London's Theater Culture You Can't Miss This time we watched two musicals in total: "The Phantom of the Opera": Gorgeous stage, excellent lighting and sound effects, an easy-to-follow plot — recommended for first-timers. "Les Misérables": A weighty storyline with powerful acting, even more moving — recommended as the grand finale to watch. 💡 It's recommended to buy tickets in advance (via the official London theatre websites or the TodayTix App); for some performances, queuing on-site can also get you last-minute tickets. 💰 Estimated Cost of a London Independent Trip (Per Person) Item Estimated Amount (TWD) Notes Flights NT$ 36,355 Hanoi → London and London → Ho Chi Minh City Accommodation NT$ 15,270 7 nights, averaging NT$2,181 per night Meals NT$ 8,203 Includes supermarket, restaurants, and cafes Attraction tickets NT$ 9,929 One-day passes, musicals, Cambridge boats, Kew Gardens, and more Day trip costs NT$ 8,938 Day 5/Day 6 tours include transportation Transportation NT$ 6,182 Train, subway, and city bus IC cards, plus unexpected taxi costs of 3,000 yuan Total NT$ 84,877 Actual costs may vary slightly depending on accommodation and tickets 📌 Extended reading recommendations Want to plan an amazing and hassle-free trip to Europe?
