Da Nang trip with my parents in their 80s — the last, day 5 🇻🇳

It's the last day of my Da Nang trip with my parents in their 80s. Since I've been looking after the elderly and family, I haven't had personal time, but there was a restaurant I really wanted to visit. I ventured out before breakfast despite the heavy rain and took a taxi from in front of the hotel. Through the downpour, I found 'Pho Long Hoi,' an excellent pho restaurant (https://maps.app.goo.gl/HbsDimREuAE3UpWg9). In the morning, they only sell two kinds: beef pho and rib pho. The small size costs 35,000 dong, and mixing it with spicy sauce makes it absolutely delicious!

After a satisfying meal, we called that taxi driver again and went to Han Market. It was raining, so a taxi was much more convenient than Grab. I did some pharmacy shopping and bought a few more things at Han Market — underwear, a shawl, and some Crocs. By the time I finished, the rain had stopped, haha. I called the taxi driver again and we came back to the hotel. After arriving at the accommodation, when I went up to the restaurant, my family was in the middle of eating, so I had another light bowl of food. Maybe because of the rainy season, the shower filter we'd used for just two days was already... haha.

After checkout, the last day started with a 12-hour rental. The driver we'd often seen came again. Our first stop was Yen Hung Pagoda on Son Tra Peninsula. It was cloudy but no rain, perfect weather for walking. My mother, who's Buddhist, made offerings wherever she saw a spot for it. We had plenty of time, so we rested here and there, ate ice cream, watched monkeys, and took lots of photos. At the Reclining Buddha statue (Tượng Phật nằm), there's someone who takes your photo and makes it into a framed picture in 5 minutes (50,000 dong each). It was cheap, so we asked for two.

We enjoyed ourselves fully at Yeongheungsa Temple, then moved near Hanshijang Market. We went to Café Kaldi for my dad, who loves mango — the mango bingsu (two orders!) and the Kaldi coffee were delicious~ (though I did spill the coffee I ordered, haha). During our break, my friend and I stopped by a place the two of us had been wanting to visit. The Michelin Guide-listed nem nướng restaurant was closed for its 1-3pm break time, so we'll have to try it next time (they kindly let us take plenty of photos though, https://maps.app.goo.gl/PiJcM9pQa7NzPeMs6). Right next door, 'Jolly Mart' is small but has everything you could need, and the prices are similar or even cheaper (https://maps.app.goo.gl/jhWzfpydjazxNbm76). At the bánh mì place we'd been wanting to visit, my friend and I split a grilled pork (bulgogi) bánh mì, and it was clean and delicious.

I also stopped by Ben Thanh Market again to buy the snacks we were missing, and picked up 6 banh mi to eat at the airport, packed at Banh Mi Co Tien. For our last meal, I booked a 7:30 reservation at a famous steak restaurant on the 37th floor for my parents — we got a seat with a great view of the Dragon Bridge (fire show at 9). The steak and seafood dishes were really delicious, and the fried rice was just so-so haha. My parents said it was a meal they'll never forget. After watching the 9 o'clock Dragon Bridge fire show, we took our rental car to the airport.

Since my flight is at 11:35, I arrived two hours early and applied for the fast track. Departures are absolutely packed at this time — the fast track is a must. My family loved it so much. There were so many departing passengers that there weren't even enough seats in the waiting area. When boarding, priority boarding for those with reduced mobility was also available in Da Nang — if you're traveling with an elderly family member, please be sure to ask about it, since they let you board without waiting in line first. From start to finish, it was a safe trip that I'll remember for a long time. [TIP] On the last day, I recommend renting a car for 12 hours and focusing on places you haven't visited yet without walking too much, so you can wrap up the trip without getting too tired. If you're traveling with an elderly family member or a child, the departure fast track is a must — and be sure to ask about priority boarding for passengers with reduced mobility when you board!
