Son Tra Peninsula — Linh Ung Pagoda and the 67m-tall Lady Buddha statue

Son Tra is a primeval forest peninsula located in the northeast of Da Nang, about 30 minutes by motorbike from the city center. The highlight is Linh Ung Pagoda with its 67-meter-tall statue of the Lady Buddha of Mercy — the tallest in Vietnam — overlooking the East Sea. On clear nights, the statue glows with a golden light that can be seen from the coastline.

From Linh Ung Pagoda, the winding road up to Son Tra Peak passes through pristine forest — where the brown-shanked douc langur (an endemic species of Vietnam, recognized as the 'queen of primates') lives in the wild. If you're lucky, you'll spot a group of 5–10 of them on the trees along the way.

The road to the summit is quite steep; motorcycles 125cc or larger are recommended. Don't bring a bicycle up — it's exhausting and dangerous. At the summit, there's a 'thousand-year-old banyan tree' and a view of all Da Nang from high above. Entrance tickets to the temple and peninsula are free; motorcycle parking costs 10,000 VND.
