🥞 BÁNH CĂN ĐỖ QUANG: The authentic "old village" style street snack destination that isn't crowded with tourists – genuine local flavor in Thanh Khe!

If you're tired of the eateries that flood travel groups and want to find a truly "local" snack spot – where all you hear is the laughter of students just out of school and the fragrant smell of grilled batter over the stove, then you have to stop by Bánh căn - Bánh đập at 47 Đỗ Quang right away!

This place is right near Ham Nghi Lake, with a rustic, simple space and a tiny yard for parking that's super convenient. One hungry afternoon I dropped by, and I was completely "won over" by the super appealing snack combo here

✨ Crispy quail egg bánh căn: The biggest plus is that the shop never pre-pours the batter in advance. When I place my order, the aunt and uncle only then start pouring the batter onto the mold, so the plate of cakes served is always piping hot, steaming away. The pastry's edge is paper-thin, wonderfully crispy and crunchy, while inside sits a rich, creamy soft-yolk quail egg filling. Dunk the cake into a bowl of sweet and sour fish sauce, and add a bit of shredded green papaya on top... Oh my, the crispy, fatty, sour, spicy flavor bursting in the mouth was absolutely amazing!

The owner (aunt and uncle) are super easygoing, warm, and hospitable — truly the spirit of Da Nang people. The shop is open from around 2pm until about 7pm, when it's sold out, so if you want to eat there, try to go in the late afternoon when it's cool out, that's the most chill time!
