Da Nang
Da Nang in autumn with the family: What to do when the weather keeps switching between rain and sunshine?

🍂 DA NANG IN AUTUMN – SHOULD YOU BRING THE WHOLE FAMILY?
From September to November, Da Nang enters its rainy season. October and November see the most rain, usually in the late afternoon and evening, but there are still plenty of beautiful sunny days in between. On the plus side, this is the low season: fewer visitors, hotels and attraction tickets often have deals, and you rarely have to queue wherever you go. The weather is cool, around 23–30°C, so grandparents and young children won't get as tired getting around.
⚠️ Important note: the sea is often rough this season, with big waves. Children should not swim in the sea; just stroll along My Khe Beach, collect seashells, and take photos. Remember to check the weather forecast and storm news before booking your tickets.
📍 SUGGESTED 3-DAY 2-NIGHT ITINERARY
Day 1 – Getting to know the city
• Morning: stroll along My Khe Beach, have Quang noodles or banh xeo for breakfast
• Afternoon: Marble Mountains (there is an elevator up the mountain, suitable for elderly people)
• Evening: stroll along the Dragon Bridge and the Han River. On weekends there is a fire-breathing and water-spraying show at 9:00 PM
Day 2 – Ba Na Hills (full day)
• Go early and arrive when the gates open at 8 a.m. to avoid the crowds and make the most of the morning, when it rains less
• In autumn, the Ba Na peak is often foggy and it's colder on the mountain than down in the city, so remember to bring a jacket for your little one
• You should buy the cable car + lunch buffet combo so the whole family doesn't have to worry about meals
• Fantasy Park is an indoor area, so you can still play even when it rains, and kids absolutely love it
Day 3 – Rainy day / sunny day plan
• Rainy weather: Museum of Cham Sculpture, Da Nang Museum, shopping malls, cafés with a view
• Sunny weather: Son Tra Peninsula, Linh Ung Pagoda (Lady Buddha statue), buy local specialties at Han Market or Con Market
🎒 THINGS TO BRING
Raincoats, a folding umbrella, a light jacket (for going up to Ba Na), non-slip sandals, a waterproof phone pouch, plus cold medicine and motion sickness medicine for the kids.
👉 In short: Da Nang in autumn isn't ideal for swimming in the sea, but it's perfect for families who want a relaxed trip with fewer crowds and affordable costs. Just plan both a sunny-day itinerary and a rainy-day itinerary in advance, and your trip will still be complete!
