This is my third time at Baiyun Airport, but the first time officially entering the country. This time there are far fewer crowds than before, and customs clearance barely required any queuing. I was able to enter smoothly with just my Taiwan Compatriot Permit and flight ticket.

First meal in Guangzhou: authentic Hakka cuisine As my friend often says: "Restaurants in China really offer great value for money." This business hotel costs about 500 RMB a night, and it's clean and comfortable. When we arrived, a good friend I hadn't seen in a long time was already waiting at the entrance. He warmly hosted our entire two-day trip to Guangzhou.

The first meal was arranged at a Hakka restaurant near the hotel. My friend said with a smile, "When dining in Guangzhou, the first course must be a soup to warm your stomach." That bowl of medicinal stewed pork rib soup had a rich aroma and warmed the body from the first sip; and the dishes that followed just kept getting better and better: The fried pork skin was crispy without being greasy — the texture was truly impressive The char siu stuffed with salted egg yolk had rich, layered flavors Roast goose is a signature Cantonese dish, but this restaurant's version was a bit overcooked The steamed grouper had tender, delicate flesh — a perfect finish to the meal

After eating our fill, we decided to take a walk downtown. Canton Tower and the Pearl River at Night It took another hour to drive from the neighborhood to the center of Guangzhou — no wonder locals aren't usually eager to go into the city. Tonight we had only one destination: Canton Tower. When we arrived it was still daytime, and the heat was intense, so we first took shelter from the heat at Starbucks. When we headed out again at 5:30 in the evening, the place was starting to liven up, with singers performing and event booths set up — the atmosphere was really great.

Walking along the Pearl River, bathed in the glow of the sunset, the scenery was absolutely lovely. A friend mentioned that after years of cleanup, the river water has become a lot cleaner.

As night fell, the lights of the Canton Tower began to flicker, gradually changing colors, and after more than ten minutes, the whole tower shone brilliantly. After taking a few photos of the night view, we headed to the dinner spot.

A Grand Dinner and Late-Night Massage A friend hosted us for dinner, and my travel companion along with another old friend also joined. As usual, it started with chicken soup, and then dish after dish came to the table: Sashimi, tea-smoked roast goose (perfectly cooked this time), salt-baked chicken, salt-baked snails, tofu, salt-and-pepper crayfish—every dish was unforgettable. The grand finale was steamed grouper, its flesh so delicate it melted in the mouth.

After the meal, the group went to a foot massage shop to relax and sober up a bit. It wasn't until past midnight that we returned to the hotel, wrapping up this Guangzhou warm-up day full of good food and vibrant nightlife.
