Hoa Trung Lake: the largest artificial lake in Da Nang, for weekend picnics

Translated from Vietnamese
Hồ mặt phẳng lặng với hàng wind turbine phía xa, thuyền xanh nhỏ bên bờ

Hoa Trung Lake is located in Hoa Ninh Commune, Hoa Vang District, 20 km west of Da Nang center. As the city's largest artificial lake (900ha), it was built in 1985 to serve irrigation for the Hoa Vang region. It is not well-known to many tourists—mostly locals visit here for weekend picnics.

Setting: a clear blue lake nestled among low hills, featuring an 8km lakeside trail and a breezy pine and eucalyptus forest. The water is clean and swimmable (though foot soaking is recommended — no lifeguard on duty). Many local families come here to fish and enjoy BBQs on the grassy areas by the lake.

A 40-minute motorbike ride from the center via Highway 14G. Free entry. No restaurants available — please bring your own food, drinks, and BBQ setup. The nature reserve prohibits commercial fishing (only recreational hand-line fishing is allowed). Best visited during the dry season (April–September); avoid heavy rains in October and November.
