Journey to Hoàng Su Phì (To Vietnam's rice terraces) 13 Drank too much~

Translated from Japanese

The grand feast with the Red Dao family was so much fun that I got completely drunk. The hot spring trip we had planned was, of course, cancelled. I mean, I was totally wobbly. I had intended to trek all day, but in the end I got put on a motorbike and taken back to the bungalow. But being drunk, I ended up tumbling off the back of the motorbike. That's how I got the bump on my head. Just as I was thinking "ow, something hurts~," everyone told me, "You fell off~!" It was really dangerous — I wasn't wearing a helmet, and the mountain road to the bungalow was steeply sloped. The driver was kind of like, "Hold on for dear life~!", but I really caused him trouble. I'm just glad I made it back safely... I slept like a log in my room, and soothed my fatigue with an herbal medicinal bath.

Having dinner too. I can still eat — actually, even though I was totally drunk, my appetite was going strong. I'd completely lost all restraint lol

I don't have a complete memory of it lol, but the delicious memories remain. Truly a dense, jam-packed three days. The hot spring will have to wait until next time. I fell into a deep sleep, and the next morning... As if they knew all about our hangovers, breakfast was okayu (rice porridge)!!

I'm so happy~~~ It's nourishing, it soaks right into my body. I cooked rice with chicken in it and topped it generously with red shiso. It was truly a delicious breakfast. Now, I'll pack up and leave at 10 a.m.! For the way back, taking a route that avoids the bad roads, if I allow about 3 hours it should be fine~~~ so I've got plenty of time to spare~~, right.

While slowly enjoying our coffee, we dug up yesterday's memories and put the pieces together as a group, like a puzzle. Apparently the 82-year-old elder was drinking quite a lot too. And it seems the young bride was gulping it down and drank the most of all. On the way home, there was someone who fell off their motorbike and took a tumble (that would be me)... and so on — such fun reminiscing. Then, as I was getting ready to head home... a staff member was grinning and beckoning me over. Wondering what on earth it could be, I headed over to the working space, and...

Pointing at the ground right nearby, "Do you know what this is?" he asked. When you take off the lid, and then peel away the vinyl sheet covering it underneath...

Inside was—oh, that's... homemade shochu. He scooped it out with a plastic container—glug glug, into a little sake cup—here, go ahead, he said. Even though I was thinking that after a hangover, alcohol was the last thing I... I took a tiny little sip. Mmm, delicious.

Apparently they let it rest underground. To think they'd only tell me this as I was leaving... heh heh heh. Well then, time to return the rental bike and head back to Hanoi by bus~~~ Relocation Life Ranking
