First Impressions of Finland: The Land of Saunas and Snow Finland is the main highlight of this Nordic journey. We depart from the ultra-modern Helsinki, head north into Rovaniemi, a city within the Arctic Circle, and finally reach the northernmost town of Inari. Finland's prices are generally quite high. Even if you shop mainly at supermarkets and cook at home, each trip still costs around 1100–1200 TWD on average, and transportation is even more expensive: overnight trains, buses, and car rentals are all pricey experiences, but the value you get from them is quite worthwhile. Helsinki has a high level of commercialization overall, with supermarket hours extending longer than in Denmark; labor costs are notably high, so public transportation and attraction ticket prices are also on the steeper side. People are generally friendly, public safety is good, and the only unexpected situation we encountered was an incident with a homeless woman at the train station. Most accommodations in Finland come with a "sauna," and enjoying the high-temperature steam amid falling snow before plunging into an icy lake is the most classic Finnish experience. II. Suggestions for Getting Around the City For Helsinki's metro, trams, and ferries, you can download the HSL App to check real-time schedules and fare information. A single ticket allows free transfers within 80 minutes; a Zone AB single ticket costs 3.2 euros, and a Zone ABC single ticket (to the airport) costs 4.4 euros. A day ticket's validity is counted from the time you start riding, in 24-hour intervals — for example, a one-day ticket for Zone AB costs 10 euros. If you plan to ride more than 4 times in a day, buying a day ticket is more cost-effective. 4. Sharing Food and Accommodation Experiences Culinary Experience: Supermarket Shopping + Occasional Dining Out Finland has extremely high prices, and restaurants are relatively scarce, so we mostly purchased local ingredients to cook back at our accommodation: Supermarket Must-Buy Recommendations: Roasted Chicken (convenient main dish), Reindeer Meat (to try something new) Dining Out Experience: Santa's Village Santa's Salmon Place, the charcoal-grilled salmon and rich cheese here are really so delicious!
