Mì Quảng, the food that represents Da Nang! To find a truly authentic Mì Quảng restaurant, we put off the hotel breakfast for a while and went searching! Mì Quảng Ếch Bếp Trang Since the sign itself said Mì Quảng, we were convinced it was a great restaurant and confidently ordered from the menu!!

Looking at the cute tray menu board, I ordered two menu items. The place was clean and had no particular smell either — passed the test!! Just as I was starting to think I’d found a great spot, the food I ordered came out, haha.

Mi Quang Ech (Frog Mi Quang) Since it was proudly written right on the shop's signboard, I ordered it convinced this must be the restaurant's signature dish. But looking at the food, the shape was... 😅 However I looked at it, it didn't seem like a chicken leg, and the moment I picked it up thinking "could it be..."... 😱😱😱 A frog's hind leg popped right out!!! That's the day I found out... Ěch = frog 🤣 The two of us just stared at each other in silence for a while, blinking our eyes over and over, haha. We needed a moment to catch our breath, so we quietly~ pushed it aside for later 😅

Thankfully, the second dish was a familiar one — grilled pork wrap. ⬇️⬇️⬇️ Bánh tráng cuốn thịt heo = Grilled pork wrapped in rice paper together with various vegetables and green mango, rolled up. They said dipping it into mắm nêm (a shrimp paste sauce) makes it taste like honey! But... the sauce didn't suit my taste, so I asked for nước mắm sauce instead. It had a bit of a pungent, salted-fish-paste-like flavor, so I just couldn't eat it. For now, I still prefer the familiar nước mắm sauce 😁

The two dishes cost 161,000 VND, about 9,000 KRW — really cheap, in a very local way. But being cheap didn't mean the food was thrown together carelessly; it was a well-arranged Mi Quang set. I picked up the frog legs that had been sitting untouched for a while and worked up the courage to take a bite. If I hadn't seen the frog's toes, I think I could have eaten it happily — it had a springy texture that tasted just like chicken. I saw the frog's toes first, so in the end I settled for just trying one bite of the meat and left. It's actually a pretty famous frog porridge (mi Quảng) place, but I felt so sorry leaving food behind. If you happen to like frog porridge or want to give it a try, I'd recommend this place.
