My Son at 7 in the morning and My Son at 12 noon are two different places

Even at the same temple complex, visiting at two different times of day can feel like almost two completely different trips. 7 AM: the valley is still misty, the brick tower turns a warm orange, and on many days there are only a few people at the whole tower cluster. You can hear birdsong and the sound of the stream flowing behind the B-C-D area. 12 noon: the valley is wind-sheltered so it gets stiflingly hot, the bricks glare with reflected sunlight, and photos come out with flattened, washed-out colors. And this is exactly when the morning tour groups all pile in at once. The historical site opens from around 6 AM. An electric cart takes you from the gate inward, but the path between the tower groups is still walked on a dirt road — so wear closed shoes, don't wear sandals. It's about 70 km from Da Nang, and it takes more than an hour to drive there. If you want to arrive by 7 o'clock, you have to set off at 5:30 — this is why many people choose to book a private car instead of a joined tour, since joined tours usually depart at 8 o'clock. There is also a Cham dance performance in the morning at the performance hall near the gate. The schedule changes with the season, so please ask again when you buy your ticket.
