Hai Phong sucking snails – it's a bit of a waste to visit Da Nang without trying them

A humble snail restaurant but quite crowded with customers in Da Nang. The snails here come in many varieties, cooked with rich and bold flavors, fragrant with lemongrass, crispy fried shallots, and a light spice that's really appetizing. Especially the hot, steaming snail broth - the more you eat, the more you crave it.

The baby snails have quite a lot of meat, and the seasoning soaks in evenly. You only really get how fun it is when you eat it the right way, slurping it out with a “slurp slurp” sound 😂 If you like spicy food, you can add some chili to make the flavor richer and more fragrant.

It's also great to order extra mixed jackfruit salad to go with it. The jackfruit is crunchy and fragrant, with Vietnamese coriander, peanuts, and fried shallots, so it's both rich and nutty, and eating it with the snails doesn't feel heavy at all. This is also one of the dishes commonly eaten together with ốc hút (sucked snails) in Đà Nẵng.
