This article compiles our actual travel experience there, covering transportation options, the best sightseeing route, and photography tips, and also explains how we traveled south from Cappadocia this time, linking up Konya and Antalya along the way — perfect reference for independent travelers who love in-depth exploration! 1. Where is Pamukkale? How should you choose your transportation? Pamukkale is located near Denizli in southwestern Turkey, not far from cities like Ephesus (Selçuk) and Antalya, making it a common stopover on many western route itineraries. ✈️ General itinerary suggestion: Most travelers choose to fly into Denizli Airport and then head to Pamukkale, or take a bus in from Ephesus. 🚗 Our itinerary plan: We instead chose to depart from Cappadocia and travel all the way south by private charter car, linking together the following sights: ✅ Konya: Capital of the ancient Sultanate of Rum, birthplace of the Sufi whirling dervish dance ✅ Antalya: A Mediterranean resort city rich in Greek and Roman ruins, home to Turkey's best-preserved Roman-style theater — the Aspendos Theater ✅ Lake Tuz: Turkey's version of the "Mirror of the Sky" — utterly dreamlike on a clear day! ✅ Çatalhöyük: An ancient settlement site dating back to 7500 BC

Must-See Spots at Pamukkale and Visiting Tips Pamukkale, also known as "Cotton Castle," was formed over the ages by calcium carbonate-rich spring water bubbling up from underground and depositing layer upon layer, creating white limestone terraces. Together with the ancient ruins of Hierapolis, it has been designated a UNESCO World Natural and Cultural Heritage Site. 📍 Recommended Visiting Route (suggested stay of 2.5–3 hours or more): 1. South Gate Entrance (Recommended) Entering from the South Gate, you can visit the historical ruins first, then walk down through the Pamukkale hot springs area — it's the smoothest sightseeing route. 2. Hierapolis Theater and Temple Ruins ✅ The Temple of Apollo, the Gate of Hell (Plutonium), the ancient theater, and more showcase the prosperity of an ancient Roman city. 💡 Many of the structures have been damaged by earthquakes, so it's best to visit these ancient sites sooner rather than later — don't let history run out of time to say goodbye.

Pamukkale Museum and Denizli Rooster This small museum displays artifacts excavated from Hierapolis, along with a famous model of the local rooster known for its "crowing so loud it can make you faint," which is quite amusing. 4. The food leans Western-style, tastes quite good, though prices are a bit higher.
