Shilla Monogram Danang Mango Bingsu 🥭🍧

The mango bingsu at Shilla Monogram Danang is popular with travelers because it lets you enjoy the taste of Apple Mango Bingsu, the signature menu of Korea's Shilla Hotel, at a much more reasonable Vietnamese price. While the mango bingsu at Korea's Shilla Hotel costs well over 100,000 won, here a Medium size is about 350,000 VND (approximately 19,000 KRW) and a Large size is about 490,000 VND (approximately 27,000 KRW).

Generously sliced fresh mango is stacked in layers, topped with mango sorbet or ice cream. Red bean, condensed milk, and mango puree are served separately, so you can add them to your taste. It's available at Bar M on the hotel's first floor or the poolside bar near the swimming pool, and it's open from 08:00 to 22:00 (last order 21:30). It may take about 20 minutes from ordering to serving, so it's best to order with plenty of time to spare.

During my stay, I tried mango milk tea one day and mango bingsu another day. The mango milk tea (145,000 VND) I had first had a rich flavor with mango puree and real mango pieces in it. It was a bit unfamiliar at first, but the combination of mango and milk tea turned out surprisingly good, so I actually found it tastier than the mango bingsu.

Honestly, the mango bingsu I'd been looking forward to ordering the next day was a bit disappointing. The mango was cut into cubes that were hard to eat in one bite, so I wish it had been cut a little smaller. The sparse, patchy visual presentation was also a bit underwhelming. The taste was just the familiar mango bingsu — if I had to point out anything special, it'd be the side red bean, I guess? Since it's a bingsu made with finely shaved milk ice, it tastes like something you can easily get in Korea too, so I didn't really feel anything special about it.

I gave my honest opinion and they remade it for me — the second bingsu clearly looked better, packed densely with smaller mango pieces 🤭 There was so much mango that even someone paying for it wouldn't feel it was a waste, which I loved. I was also impressed that they took my honest feedback so graciously 👏👏👏
