First Impressions of Norway: A Paradise of Storms, Auroras, and Seafood Norway was the most challenging yet most surprising country on this Nordic journey. We chartered a car from Inari, Finland to Kirkenes, and from there boarded a coastal cruise ship sailing all the way toward the heart of the Arctic Circle — Tromsø. Along the way, we not only enjoyed the Northern Lights over the sea, but also encountered a snowstorm in Tromsø that caused road closures and train suspensions, forcing us to stay put for two days. This experience gave us a deep appreciation for the unpredictability of winter transportation in Norway, and it also sharpened our ability to adapt on the fly while traveling independently. But because of this unexpected stopover, we made a surprising discovery: Norway's seafood is the cheapest among the four countries. Whether in restaurants or supermarkets, the brown cheese, canned herring, and caviar were all amazing. In terms of urban traffic, cars are extremely courteous and always actively yield to pedestrians; most city roads are treated with geothermal heating, and some road sections remain dry and passable even during heavy snowfall, demonstrating mature adaptation to polar life. 2. Tromsø → Narvik: Bus No. 100 (but due to the storm, the road was closed, and it wasn't able to arrive successfully)

Backup plan: Tromsø → Stockholm Flight: SAS Airlines, recommend downloading the SAS App in advance to check flight status Weather Reminder Winter blizzards are common along the Norwegian coast (like the storm we encountered this time). Even if it's clear in the city, mountain areas or highways may still be closed. It's recommended to prepare a Plan B in advance (such as changing flights or booking extra accommodation). 4. Food and Accommodation Experience Sharing Food Experience dragøy Seafood Market Restaurant (Tromsø): Highly recommend the salmon & Arctic shrimp cold platter, mixed seafood pot, and fish soup. Given Norwegian prices, it's extremely good value.

Must-buy items at Tromsø supermarkets: brown cheese (TINE), canned mackerel, Mills caviar, and Arctic salmon — prices are far lower than in the other three countries, so it's highly recommended to stock up here in bulk. Accommodation experience 📍Tromsø Apartment (Airbnb): The location is a bit far from the city center, and the room is cramped, but the basic amenities are all there.

Tips & Practical Information Aurora Tracking Tips: The area around Tromsø is excellent for aurora viewing—if the weather is clear, you can take the cable car up the mountain to watch, or walk along the lake area into zones free of light pollution. Getting Around Town: Most places are within walking distance, and some can be reached by bus, with a one-way fare of 48 NOK, payable via the Tromsø Taxi App or on-site. Aurora Forecast Apps: We recommend Aurora and My Aurora Forecast, paired with Windy to check cloud cover. Weather changes fast: sunny days can also turn to snow in an instant, it is recommended to carry waterproof gear and snow shoes all day long.
