๐ฐ๐ทGanghwa Gyodong Daeryong Market, full of retro vibes

Located on Gyodong Island in Ganghwa-gun, Incheon, Daeryong Market is a retro-vibe traditional market that has preserved the atmosphere of the 1960s-70s just as it was. During the Korean War, displaced people who fled from Yeonbaek-gun in Hwanghae Province formed this market in the image of their hometown market, and thanks to its old signboards and alleyway scenery, it is also famous as a "time-travel market.

If you park in the parking lot area and walk from there, you'll see a hot dog shop right here. Since it was before breakfast, I bought one and ate it... the cheese stretched soooo long~! I really enjoyed it. Eating it the old-fashioned way, coated in sugar and topped with ketchup and mustard, made it feel like a trip down memory lane too. The owner mentioned that they use good quality cheese. He was really proud of it. You should try it sometime too, haha.

Kimchi made from turnip, a local specialty of Ganghwa Island!! Its spicy, sharp flavor is truly exceptional. You can also sample chamsongi mushrooms. I ate them dipped in sesame oil and they were delicious ~~

There's another famous thing here at Gyodong Daeryong Market!! It's Ssanghwa tea!!! It's made by directly boiling herbal ingredients, and since there are several shops, you can just pick whichever one feels right and go in, haha.

It was a day of on-and-off rain, but since it was the weekend, there were really a lot of people. If you're going on a trip to Ganghwa Island, please stop by here too~~ Oh!! Since it's a military area, there's a checkpoint when you cross the bridge... They might check your ID, so it would be good to bring one with you. (random)
