(Trip) Visit to the Memorial Hall of the Democratization Movement

Chatting over coffee in early June, I heard that the Memorial Hall for the Democratization Movement had opened, and that if you made a reservation, you could get a guided tour of the Anti-Communist Investigation Bureau, so I made a reservation~ (You can make the reservation online.) M1 is free viewing, while the Anti-Communist Investigation Bureau, M2, requires a reservation. If you go without a reservation, you can still view the 1st floor of the main building and basement floors 1, 2, and 3. It's open from Tuesday to Sunday, and admission is free.

I took the subway for the first time in a while. It takes about an hour. It's right behind Namyeong Station. The parking lot is quite spacious too.

The memorial hall construction process began in 2001, and after preserving the anti-communist investigation building for a long time, full-scale public viewing began in June this year. It's said that visitors could also view it before then.

In the M1 building, from the 1st floor to the 3rd basement level, you can visit spaces that commemorate the democratization movement, spaces that remember the history of state violence and collect and preserve records of the democratization movement, spaces for democratic citizenship education where democracy is studied and democratic citizens are cultivated, and spaces that contribute to the development of democracy in solidarity with the world.

From here on is the Daegongbunsil (former security building), which you can visit with a reservation and a guided explanation. Each floor's viewing highlights are well explained.

I can't explain it in detail. I just don't know much about it, haha.

On the 5th floor interrogation room, there are countless rooms, and among them is the room where the martyr Park Jong-cheol was interrogated. It has been preserved just as it was. I take a moment of silence in remembrance.

If you answer the call, you're in a dangerous situation. Never, ever answer that call!!!! The reason they're calling is to check whether that person is home or not. If you pick up, you need to run.ㅠ
