The Field Restaurant – Dining in the middle of Hoi An's rice fields
If you've already spent a lot of time exploring Hoi An's ancient town, try stepping away from the crowded streets to find a dining experience that's closer to nature at The Field Restaurant & Bar.

The restaurant is located in the middle of the Hoi An countryside, next to a river and rice fields. Instead of building an exclusive, luxurious space, The Field chose wooden thatched-roof houses, gardens, and dining tables facing out onto the rice fields to create the feeling of dining in the middle of the Vietnamese countryside.

The most special feature lies in the “Garden to Table” philosophy. The restaurant uses vegetables, herbs, and some ingredients grown right in its own garden. So, a meal here doesn't just begin when the dish is brought to the table, but actually starts from the garden behind the restaurant itself.

If you want to experience more than just an ordinary meal, you can combine it with a garden tour program and a cooking class. Some experiences even take guests on a boat ride before the meal, followed by dining amid the countryside scenery.

The menu focuses on Vietnamese cuisine with a modern presentation. Dishes such as fish grilled in banana leaf, garden-fresh vegetable dishes, chicken, and local specialties are choices well worth trying. Some experiences also include a Vietnamese bánh xèo (sizzling pancake) making tutorial, which is quite interesting for foreign guests who want to understand how the dish is prepared rather than just enjoying the finished product.

The best time to visit is perhaps in the late afternoon. As the sunlight starts to soften, the fields change color and the atmosphere becomes much quieter than the old quarter. Some tourists even choose to arrive by boat to make their meal into a more complete experience.

The Field isn't the kind of restaurant you just drop into to "get a meal over with."
