Public buses in Da Nang: sightseeing around the city or simply an interesting experience
Translated from Vietnamese
1/5
Da Nang's public bus network is something few visitors notice — even though it runs on fixed routes, has stops along the way, and goes to quite a few of the places you want to visit.
This is a public bus service managed by the city, operated by Trung tâm Điều hành giao thông thông minh Đà Nẵng in coordination with the bus operating companies. The bus stops at stations according to the announced route.
Where the network goes
After Đà Nẵng's administrative boundaries were expanded, the list of routes was re-approved and divided into four groups: an intra-provincial group with 35 routes, a group connecting wards and communes, a group of tourist and shuttle routes, and an inter-provincial group.
A few of those routes match your itinerary exactly: Hội An – Đà Nẵng Airport, Đà Nẵng Airport – Bà Nà Hills, Xuân Diệu – Southern Bus Station, Hòa Hiệp Nam residential area – East Sea Park. The tourist group includes Hội An – Mỹ Sơn – Đông Giang. The inter-provincial group includes Đà Nẵng – Huế and Tam Kỳ – Quảng Ngãi.
There are electric vehicles too
Route 06, running between Da Nang Airport and Vietnam-Korea University, now uses an all-electric fleet. The city is gradually switching more routes to electric buses, so you may step onto a bus that runs quietly and without exhaust fumes.
What to use to look up routes
The official app is DanaBus, released by the city, and it is available in Vietnamese and English. In the app, you can look up the route of each line and see where the buses are in real time — so you know how far the bus is from the stop instead of standing at the roadside guessing. The app also used to have an online ticket purchase feature. Waiting stops usually have route boards, but looking things up in the app right from your hotel is more convenient.
Tickets and times
Tickets are charged per ride. The fare figures you come across on travel blogs are mostly prices from a few years ago, so a more reliable way is to check in the app or ask directly when you get on the bus. And since buses run on a schedule and stop at many stations, allow some extra time: this is the way to travel on days when you're not in a hurry and want to sit by the window watching the streets roll by.
Schedules and fares may change, so please double-check in the DanaBus app or contact the operator to confirm before you travel.
